Presenting an exquisite rug that is sure to captivate any rug enthusiast. Originating from Afghanistan, this tribal-style rug showcases the Bakshaish Willow design, which is renowned for its unique charm. The rug features a captivating rose background, beautifully complemented by a light blue border. The main color of this rug is a vibrant red, adding a touch of warmth and richness to any space.

Crafted with utmost precision and attention to detail, this rug is made using high-quality materials. The content consists of wool on cotton, ensuring both comfort and durability. The wool used in this rug comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan, known for producing longer staple oily wool, perfect for carpet weaving. The wool is hand-carded and hand-spun into yarn in the western side of Afghanistan around Herat, where it is then ready for frying.

Using traditional floor looms, skilled weavers from the Esari Subtribe meticulously create this beautiful piece in their homes or cottage industries. The weaving technique employed is the asymmetrical “Persian” knot type. The warp and weft of this rug are crafted from cotton, while the pile is made entirely of wool. The double-wefted, heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique contributes to its exceptional durability, making it a lasting investment for any rug collector.

The rich colors of this rug are achieved through centuries-old, natural dyeing methods. The blue hues are derived from natural indigo dye stuffs, obtained from the leaves of the indigo plant. Indigo has a long history as one of the oldest known dyes used by humans, renowned for its ability to produce vibrant blue shades. On the other hand, the red shades in this rug come from natural madder root dyes. These dyes, derived from the roots of the madder plant, offer a range of warm and cool red, orange, pink, and brown shades.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, this rug boasts exceptional craftsmanship. The calculation based on the KPSI reveals that this rug is composed of an astounding 1,236,936 individually hand-tied knots, showcasing the painstaking effort put into its creation.

Introduce a touch of elegance and cultural heritage into your space with this Afghani rug. Its breathtaking design, quality craftsmanship, and genuine natural dye colors make it a truly remarkable addition to any interior.
