Introducing our exquisite Afghan rug, featuring a traditional design by Haji Jalili. This stunning piece originates from Afghanistan, specifically the Ghazni Province in the southeast, known for its mountainous terrain ideal for producing high-quality wool. The cream-colored background beautifully complements the sky blue border, with the main color showcasing a tasteful beige shade.

Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, this rug is made using a combination of wool on cotton, resulting in a durable and luxurious texture. Its size measures 8'1" x 11'0", providing a generous space to adorn your home.

The skilled ethnic Turkmen weavers, primarily from the Esari Subtribe, contribute to the creation of this masterpiece. They utilize raw Ghazni wool, which is then hand carted and spun into carpet yarn in the western region of Afghanistan, specifically around Herat. The weaving process takes place on traditional floor looms, often found in the weavers' homes, adding a touch of authenticity to each rug.

Employing the asymmetrical "Persian" knot technique, this rug displays a level of craftsmanship passed down through generations. The warp and weft consist of cotton, while the pile boasts all-natural wool. The double weft and heavily packed depressed warp weaving contribute to its exceptional durability.

Highlighting its timeless charm, this rug features centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs. In particular, the captivating blue color originates from the use of natural indigo dye obtained from the leaves of the indigo plant (indigofera tinctoria). Indigo dye carries a rich history, traceable back several millennia and cherished by diverse cultures worldwide for its vibrant blue hues.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) count of 162, this rug showcases a remarkable level of intricacy and craftsmanship. In fact, we estimate that there are a total of 2,065,156 individually hand-tied knots in this exceptional piece.

Immerse yourself in the beauty and artistry of this Afghan rug, meticulously created with care and attention by skilled weavers. Its timeless design and superb quality make it a true treasure for any home.
