Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug, featuring a captivating Heriz design that showcases the rich tapestry of tribal artistry. A true masterpiece, this rug boasts a navy background that effortlessly complements the stunning coral border, creating a harmonious blend of colors.

Originating from Afghanistan, this rug is crafted by skilled ethnic Turkmen weavers, primarily from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this rug is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, known for its mountainous terrain, which naturally produces longer staple, oily, and higher quality wool ideal for carpet weaving.

The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, specifically around Herat, where it undergoes a meticulous process of hand carding and hand spinning. This ensures that the wool is transformed into carpet yarn of the utmost quality, ready to be woven into a work of art.

Using traditional floor looms in their own homes, the weavers employ an asymmetrical "Persian" knot technique to weave this stunning rug. The foundation consists of cotton warp and weft, while the pile is made entirely of wool. The double wefted, heavily packed, and depressed warp weaving technique employed in its creation results in a remarkably durable and long-lasting rug.

Furthermore, this rug is a testament to the centuries-old tradition of using all-natural dye stuffs. The captivating blue hue, derived from natural indigo dyes, adds depth and vibrancy to the design. Natural indigo dyes, sourced from the leaves of the indigo plant (indigofera tinctoria), have been utilized by cultures worldwide for thousands of years, creating a timeless and captivating blue shade.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, this rug showcases the weaver's dedication to detail and precision. Based on our calculation, this rug boasts an impressive 640,162 individually hand-tied knots in total.

Immerse yourself in the allure of this Afghani rug, which effortlessly combines exceptional craftsmanship with a mesmerizing design.
