Introducing the exquisite Afghan rug, boasting a large Harshang design that emanates a tribal charm. Originating from Afghanistan, this rug showcases the rich heritage of Afghan craftsmanship. Its navy background beautifully complements the rust border, creating a visually captivating contrast.

Crafted by ethnic Turkmen weavers, mostly from the Esari Subtribe, this rug is meticulously handwoven using wool sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan. The Ghazni Province's mountainous terrain provides an ideal environment for the growth of longer staple, oily, and higher quality wool, ensuring exceptional durability and longevity.

The raw Ghazni wool undergoes a meticulous process, transported to the western side of Afghanistan near Herat. There, it is hand-carted and hand-spun into carpet yarn, ready for weaving. Each step is carried out with utmost care and precision, illuminating the skill and dedication of the weavers.

Woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, this rug gracefully showcases the cottage industry type production. Using an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, the weavers expertly bring the design to life. With a cotton warp and weft, and a woolen pile, this rug combines comfort and durability in perfect harmony.

The craftsmanship of this rug is further accentuated by its double-wefted, heavily packed, and depressed warp weaving. These characteristics contribute to its status as one of the most durable handwoven carpets of today, capable of withstanding the test of time.

Furthermore, this Afghan rug stands proudly as a testament to the artistry of ancient practices. Centuries-old natural dye stuffs create its striking color palette. Notably, the captivating blue hues in this rug are derived from natural indigo dye stuffs. True indigo, extracted from the leaves of the indigo plant (Indigofera tinctoria), has been utilized for thousands of years, adorning cultures worldwide with its vibrant blue shades.

With a generous knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, this rug showcases meticulous attention to detail. We have calculated that it contains an astonishing 1,231,877 individually hand-tied knots in total, further emphasizing its meticulous craftsmanship and intrinsic value.

Immerse your space in the history and splendor of this Afghan rug, as it becomes the centerpiece of your decor.
