Introducing an exquisite Afghan rug from the tribal design known as Tree Kazak, featuring a captivating combination of navy background and rustic border. This rug originates from Afghanistan and showcases the artistry and craftsmanship of Ethnic Turkmen weavers, particularly from the Esari Subtribe.

The high-quality wool used in this rug hails from the Ghazni Province, located in the southeastern part of Afghanistan. The mountainous terrain of this region naturally produces longer staple, oily wool, perfect for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it undergoes manual processing. Hand carding and spinning transform the wool into carpet yarn, ready to be woven into intricate patterns.

Woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, this rug embodies the cottage industry style of production. The weaving technique employed is known as an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, resulting in a highly durable and long-lasting carpet. The rug boasts a cotton warp and weft, with the pile consisting entirely of wool.

To achieve its stunning blue hue, this rug utilizes natural indigo dyes sourced from the leaves of the indigo plant (indigofera tinctoria). This ancient dyeing method has been practiced for centuries, offering vibrant and enduring shades of blue. The rug's design is complemented by centuries-old natural dye stuffs, adding to the authenticity and charm of this piece.

With a size of 6'0" x 8'5" and a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 162, this rug showcases exceptional attention to detail. Based on our calculations, this rug consists of an impressive 1,172,910 individually hand-tied knots. Each knot represents the skill and dedication of the weaver, ensuring a timeless and unparalleled beauty in this remarkable carpet.

Immerse yourself in the rich heritage of Afghan craftsmanship with this remarkable Tree Kazak rug, a testament to tradition, quality, and timeless elegance.
