Introducing our exquisite rug from Afghanistan, this stunning piece features a captivating design known as Suzani. Crafted with utmost care and precision, it showcases a transitional style that seamlessly blends traditional and contemporary elements. The background of this rug is a soothing shade of blue, providing a calming and inviting ambiance to any space it adorns. Its elegant eggplant border adds a touch of richness and depth to the overall design.

Created by talented ethnic Turkmen weavers, most of whom belong to the Esari Subtribe, this rug is made using high-quality wool sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan. The mountainous terrain of this region produces wool with longer staple and a naturally oily texture, making it ideal for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, specifically around Herat, where it undergoes the meticulous process of hand carding and hand spinning to transform it into fine carpet yarn.

To ensure the highest level of craftsmanship, this rug is woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes. This cottage industry-type production allows for a personal touch and attention to detail in each piece. The weaving technique employed is the asymmetrical "Persian" knot, which adds to the rug's authenticity and durability. Its composition consists of wool pile on a cotton warp and weft, with double wefting and heavily packed depressed warp weaving, resulting in a robust and long-lasting carpet.

Adding to its allure, this rug boasts centuries-old, all-natural dye stuffs, exemplifying the heritage and artistry infused in its creation. The striking blue hues are derived from natural indigo dye, sourced from the leaves of the indigo plant (indigofera tinctoria). With a rich history spanning thousands of years, indigo dye has been used by various cultures worldwide to produce vibrant blue shades.

Measuring 5 '11" X 8 '10" in size, this rug features a knot density of 80 knots per square inch. Based on this calculation, we can proudly say that it comprises a remarkable 594,799 individually hand-tied knots in total, a testament to the meticulous craftsmanship poured into its creation.

Immerse your space in the beauty of Afghan artistry with this exceptional Suzani rug. Each thread tells a story, and each knot holds a piece of tradition, making it a cherished addition to any collection. Bring warmth, elegance, and a touch of history into your home with this extraordinary masterpiece.
