Introducing the magnificent Afghani Karaja Tribal Rug! This exquisite rug originates from Afghanistan and showcases the distinct Karaja design. Its captivating beauty is enhanced by a light blue background and a rust-colored border, creating a harmonious color palette.

Crafted by talented ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe, this rug is a true work of art. The wool used in its creation is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, known for its mountainous terrain that yields longer staple, high-quality wool. This raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it undergoes hand carding and spinning, resulting in carpet yarn ready for weaving.

Using traditional floor looms in their own homes, the weavers employ the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type to meticulously bring this rug to life. Its durable construction is attributed to the double wefted, heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique. This ensures that this handwoven masterpiece will withstand the test of time.

With centuries-old natural dye stuffs, the captivating blue color of this rug is achieved through the use of natural indigo dyes. The leaves of the indigo plant, also known as indigofera tinctoria or true indigo, are the source of these vibrant blue hues. The history of indigo dye spans thousands of years and has been cherished by numerous cultures around the world.

Measuring at an impressive 10'0" X 13'10" in size, this rug features 80 knots per square inch and a remarkable total of 1,574,321 individually hand-tied knots. Its content consists of wool on cotton, ensuring a luxurious and comfortable feel underfoot.

Embrace the allure of this Afghani Karaja Tribal Rug, a testimony of exquisite craftsmanship and timeless beauty.
