Introducing our exquisite new Afghan Village rug from Afghanistan. Handcrafted by skilled ethnic Turkmen weavers, mainly from the Esari Subtribe, this rug showcases the rich artistic heritage of the region.

The design of this rug features a tribal style, with a sky blue background that beautifully contrasts with a cherry border. The main color of the rug is a stunning blue shade that is sure to captivate the eyes.

Made from high-quality materials, this rug boasts a wool pile on a cotton warp and weft, ensuring both comfort and durability. The wool used in this rug is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, where the mountainous terrain produces long staple wool ideal for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then brought to the western side of Afghanistan, specifically around Herat, where it is hand carded and spun into carpet yarn. The weaving process takes place on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, creating a beautiful piece of art with an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type. The double-wefted heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique ensures the utmost durability in this handwoven masterpiece.

To maintain the authenticity of this rug, centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs are used. The captivating blue color comes from natural indigo dye, derived from the leaves of the indigo plant. Indigo is a time-honored dye that has been used for thousands of years, producing vibrant blue hues that stand the test of time.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, we have meticulously calculated that this rug features a total of 32,877 individually hand-tied knots. This level of craftsmanship speaks to the intricate detail and quality of this rug.

Measuring at 1'4" x 2'2", our Afghan Village rug is a true testament to the artistry and cultural heritage of Afghanistan. Add a touch of tribal elegance and beauty to your home with this remarkable piece from our collection.
