This rug originates from India and features a traditional Agra design, dating back to around 1930. It was expertly crafted from wool on a cotton foundation, a common material choice that ensures both durability and comfort.

The rug's background is a subtle camel tone, complemented by a baby blue border, which adds a soothing contrast. The primary color throughout the rug is a light beige, providing a neutral and versatile palette suitable for various interior settings.

Agra rugs are known for their intricate and detailed designs, which often include a combination of geometric and floral elements. This particular rug showcases a pattern with diamond shapes interspersed with floral medallions and other abstract motifs, creating a symmetrical and visually engaging layout. The pattern is dense, with very little empty space, filled uniformly with small, detailed elements that contribute to the overall complexity of the design.

Color-wise, the predominant shade is a light beige or sandy tone that forms the base of the rug. This neutral backdrop is embellished with rich sky blue accents scattered across the field, especially in the floral medallions. Darker brown or bronze shades outline and detail the patterns, providing depth and contrast to the design.

The rug features multiple distinct borders. The innermost border is a thin line of brown, followed by a slightly wider light beige border with a subtle pattern. The middle border stands out with a sky blue background adorned with small beige floral motifs. Lastly, the outermost border is wide and intricate, alternating beige floral motifs on a sky blue background and vice versa, enhancing the visual appeal and framing the rug's design.

This antique Indian Agra rug, with its traditional style and meticulous craftsmanship, reflects the rich artistic heritage of the region. The careful combination of colors and patterns makes it a significant piece for any collection.

Last fall, my husband and I purchased a gorgeous silk from you for our Boston Condo. Based on the quality of your rugs and customer service, we decided to visit you again to purchase rugs for our Connecticut home. Luckily, we received your postcard about the tent sale and came home with two more stunning rugs.

I can't say enough good things about this store, especially Susanne and Breanna. I shop at many rug places as I am an interior designer looking for very specific rugs all the time. No one out there compares to this store and their wonderful Sales associates. Thank you Susanne and Breanna for all your help!

Over the past year we purchased three rugs, as well as carpet from L&A. Our experience could not have been more positive and we love what we purchased.

In addition, every single person
in the showroom was beyond helpful, knowledgeable and kind. It was truly a pleasure. Thank you!
