Introducing a stunning Afghani rug with a design inspired by the Akstafa tribe. This tribal-style rug showcases a navy background and a charming rust border, creating a harmonious color combination. Crafted with attention to detail, the rug's main color is a captivating blue, adding depth and character to any space.

Originating from Afghanistan, this rug is a testament to the skill and craftsmanship of ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this rug hails from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, where the mountainous terrain yields longer staple, oily wool of superior quality for carpet weaving.

The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it undergoes a meticulous process of hand carding and spinning to create the carpet yarn. Woven on traditional floor looms within people's homes or through cottage industry production, this rug is an embodiment of artisanal expertise and heritage.

Featuring an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and a cotton warp and weft, this rug combines the strength and durability of a double-wefted, heavily packed, depressed warp weaving technique. This ensures that the rug remains resilient and long-lasting, showcasing the legacy of centuries-old carpet weaving traditions.

A highlight of this rug is its use of all-natural dye stuffs. The captivating blue hue is derived from natural indigo dyes, extracted from the leaves of the indigo plant (indigofera tinctoria). With a history dating back thousands of years, natural indigo dyes have been cherished by cultures worldwide for their ability to produce vibrant blue shades.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, this rug displays intricate craftsmanship. Our calculations estimate a total of 242,790 individually hand-tied knots, a testament to the meticulous attention and care invested in its creation.

Elevate your space with this exceptional Afghani rug, embodying the rich cultural heritage and superior craftsmanship of its origin. Perfectly combining artistry with practicality, it is an exquisite addition to any home or collection.
