Introducing the stunning Afghani rug with a captivating arabesque design. This traditional rug originates from Afghanistan, specifically the Ghazni Province in the southeast. The weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe, expertly utilize wool sourced from local sheep. These sheep benefit from the region's mountainous terrain, resulting in longer staple, high-quality wool ideal for carpet weaving.

To create this masterpiece, the raw Ghazni wool is transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat. Here, it undergoes meticulous hand carding and spinning, transforming it into carpet yarn ready for weaving. Skilled weavers employ the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, weaving on traditional floor looms within the comfort of their own homes or small cottage industries.

The construction of this rug is truly durable and long-lasting. It features a cotton warp and weft, with the pile crafted entirely from wool. Notably, the double wefting technique and heavily packed, depressed warp weaving contribute to its exceptional durability. This rug is designed to withstand the test of time.

The rich navy background and rust border beautifully complement the overall design, which is predominantly blue. The striking blue hues are achieved through the use of natural indigo dye. Natural indigo, derived from the leaves of the indigo plant (indigofera tinctoria), has been used by humans for thousands of years. Its vibrant blue color has captivated cultures worldwide.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 162, this rug boasts an impressive 1,887,092 individually hand-tied knots in total. Its size measures 8'4" x 9'9", making it a substantial and eye-catching addition to any space.

Immerse yourself in the rich history and expertise showcased in this Afghani rug. Enhance your home's ambiance with its timeless design and impeccable craftsmanship.
