Introducing our exquisite rug from Afghanistan, boasting a breathtaking Bakshaish design. This transitional style rug features a captivating medium blue background, complemented by a sage border, creating a harmonious color palette that is sure to enhance any space. Crafted using high-quality materials, the rug is made of wool on cotton, guaranteeing both durability and comfort.

Measuring 9'10" by 14'1", this rug is a true masterpiece. It originates from Afghanistan, specifically from weavers predominantly hailing from the Esari Subtribe. These talented artisans source the wool from sheep in the Ghazni Province, where the mountainous terrain contributes to the production of longer staple, oily, and superior quality wool, known for its ideal properties for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to Herat, on the western side of Afghanistan, where it is meticulously hand carted and spun into carpet yarn.

Using traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, this rug is meticulously woven with an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type technique, showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship of its creators. The cotton warp and weft, combined with a wool pile, result in a double-wefted, heavily packed depressed warp weaving, ensuring the utmost durability and longevity.

This rug stands as a testament to the centuries-old tradition of using all-natural dye stuffs. The captivating blue tones are derived from natural indigo dye, made from the leaves of the indigo plant. Known as one of the oldest dyes used by humans, indigo has a rich history that spans thousands of years and has been revered in various cultures around the world for its ability to produce vibrant blue hues.

Offering a knot density of 80 knots per square inch, this rug showcases the meticulous attention to detail and precision of its creation. Through our calculations, we estimate that there are an astonishing 1,576,055 individually hand-tied knots in this captivating piece.

Transport yourself to a world of elegance and beauty with this Afghan masterpiece. Immerse yourself in its rich history and impeccable craftsmanship, making it a true treasure to behold.
