Introducing our exquisite rug, sourced from Afghanistan, known for its rich heritage in carpet weaving. This particular rug showcases the traditional design of Bakshaish, adding a tribal touch to its elegance. The background is a captivating shade of grey, beautifully complemented by a stunning blue border.

This rug was crafted with utmost care. The content comprises of wool on cotton, ensuring both softness and durability. Its dimensions measure 9'7" x 13'10", making it a spacious and versatile piece for any interior space.

The weavers responsible for this masterpiece hail primarily from the Esari Subtribe, reflecting the expertise and craftsmanship of ethnic Turkmen weavers. The wool used in this rug comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, where the natural mountainous terrain supports the production of longer staple oily wool, ideal for carpet weaving. The Ghazni wool is carefully transported to Herat, where it undergoes the process of hand carting and spinning into carpet yarn.

Woven on traditional floor looms within the homes of these talented artisans, this rug showcases an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type. The foundation consists of cotton warp and weft, while the pile is made entirely of wool. This double wefted, heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique contributes to the exceptional durability of this handwoven masterpiece.

To enhance its timeless allure, centuries-old, all-natural dye stuffs are used to imbue the rug with captivating colors. Notably, the captivating shade of blue that adorns this rug is achieved through the use of natural indigo dye. Derived from the leaves of the indigo plant, natural indigo dyes have been cherished by various cultures for thousands of years for their ability to produce vibrant shades of blue.

With a knots per square inch count of 80, this rug displays exquisite attention to detail. Through our meticulous calculations, we estimate that this rug boasts an astonishing total of 1,508,719 individually hand-tied knots. Such craftsmanship ensures not only its beauty but also its longevity.

Reveal the allure of Afghan heritage and the mesmerizing design of Bakshaish by embracing this remarkable rug. Its timeless charm, durable construction, and exquisite craftsmanship make it a perfect addition to any home.
