Introducing the exquisite Afghan Bakshaish Tribal Rug, originating from Afghanistan. This rug showcases a stunning design, with a grey background and a vibrant blue border that adds a touch of elegance to any space. Crafted with utmost precision, this rug is a true masterpiece.

Meticulously woven by skilled Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe, this rug features a combination of wool from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan. The Ghazni Province's mountainous terrain naturally produces longer staple oily wool, ideal for carpet weaving. The raw wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, specifically Herat, where it undergoes meticulous hand carding and spinning to create the high-quality carpet yarn required.

The weaving process takes place on traditional floor looms within the weavers' homes, showcasing the essence of a cottage industry. Utilizing the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and employing cotton warp and weft with an all-wool pile, the rug embodies durability and longevity.

The beauty of this rug extends further as it embraces centuries-old, all-natural dye stuffs. The captivating blue color, which graces this rug, comes from the use of natural indigo dye. Derived from the leaves of the indigo plant (indigofera tinctoria), this dye dates back thousands of years, serving as a testament to its timeless appeal.

With a knot count of 80 knots per square inch, this rug showcases the weavers' meticulous attention to detail. Calculating the KPSI (knots per square inch), we estimate that this magnificent rug boasts an impressive total of 919,933 individually hand-tied knots.

Captivate your space with the allure of this Afghan Bakshaish Tribal Rug, a testament to the rich heritage and expert craftsmanship of Afghan rug weaving.
