Introducing our exquisite 12'3 " X 14'2 " Afghani rug, showcasing the remarkable craftsmanship of ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe. This tribal-style rug features a bakshaish design, with a captivating blue background and a camel-colored border. Its authentic origins lie in Afghanistan, specifically in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, renowned for its mountainous terrain that nurtures sheep yielding longer staple, higher quality wool.

To ensure utmost quality, the raw Ghazni wool is transported to the western side of Afghanistan around Herat. Here, skilled artisans hand card and spin the wool into carpet yarn, readying it for the weaving process. Each rug is lovingly woven on traditional floor looms, often within the weavers' own homes, representing a cottage industry type of production.

The distinctive asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and the use of cotton warp and weft, along with an all-wool pile, contribute to the rug's robustness. Through careful weaving techniques, including double wefting and heavily packed depressed warp weaving, this Afghani rug emerges as one of the most durable handwoven carpets available today.

Echoing the centuries-old tradition of employing natural dye stuffs, our rug's captivating blue hues originate from the indigo plant's leaves. Natural indigo dye, also known as indigofera tinctoria or true indigo, boasts a history dating back thousands of years and has been widely cherished by various cultures worldwide for its ability to produce vibrant blue shades.

With 80 knots per square inch (KPSI), this Afghani rug reflects the weavers' meticulous attention to detail. Calculated based on the KPSI, this exceptional rug boasts an astounding total of 1,975,024 individually hand-tied knots, showcasing the unparalleled dedication and skill of the artisans involved.

Immerse yourself in the rich heritage of Afghan rug weaving with this remarkable Afghani rug, a masterpiece that seamlessly combines tradition, artistry, and enduring quality.
