Introducing our magnificent Afghani rug, featuring the exquisite Bakshaish Willow design. This tribal-style rug showcases a stunning navy background and a rust border, creating a visually captivating piece for any space. Crafted with care and attention to detail, this rug boasts a new condition and is made from high-quality wool on cotton for durability and comfort.

Originating from Afghanistan, this rug is the result of the skilled ethnic Turkmen weavers, mainly from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this rug is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of South East Afghanistan, known for its mountainous terrain that produces longer staple oily higher quality wool for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then brought to the western side of Afghanistan, around Herat, where it undergoes the process of hand carting and hand spinning into carpet yarn.

Each rug is meticulously woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, fostering a cottage industry-type production. With an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and a cotton warp and weft (wool pile), this rug boasts double-wefted, heavily packed, and depressed warp weaving, ensuring its exceptional durability and quality.

The centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs used in this rug add to its remarkable beauty. It is worth noting that the mesmerizing blue color in this rug comes from natural indigo dye stuffs. The natural indigo dyes, derived from the leaves of the indigo plant (indigofera tinctoria), have been utilized by humans for thousands of years, creating vibrant blue hues cherished in various cultures around the world.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, this rug showcases the meticulous craftsmanship of the weavers. Our careful calculations reveal that this rug features an impressive total of 622,380 individually hand-tied knots.

Experience the allure of this Afghani rug and add a touch of timeless elegance to your home.
