Introducing our exquisite rug from Afghanistan, featuring the captivating Gabbeh design. This tribal-style masterpiece showcases a background in the serene shade of sky blue, beautifully complemented by a rust-colored border.

Crafted with utmost care and precision, this rug is made with wool on cotton, guaranteeing a luxurious and comfortable feel underfoot. Its size measures 6 '0 " X 8 '9 ", making it perfect for adding a touch of elegance to any room.

The origins of this rug trace back to the skilled weavers of the Esari Subtribe, hailing from the Ghazni Province in South East Afghanistan. These weavers gather wool from local sheep, benefiting from the mountainous terrain, which produces longer staple oily higher quality wool for carpet weaving.

The raw Ghazni wool is then taken to the western side of Afghanistan, where it is meticulously hand carded and spun into carpet yarn. The weaving process takes place on traditional floor looms, predominantly in the weavers' own homes and cottage industries, preserving the authenticity of each piece.

Using an asymmetrical "Persian" knot technique, the rug boasts exceptional durability, thanks to its cotton warp and weft and all-wool pile. The double-wefted construction, with a heavily packed depressed warp, ensures longevity, making it one of the sturdiest handwoven carpets available today.

Centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs have been utilized to achieve the captivating hues you see in this rug. Notably, the striking blue color is derived from natural indigo dye stuffs. Indigo, sourced from the leaves of the indigo plant, has been prized for its vibrant blue shades for thousands of years, embraced by various cultures worldwide.

With a remarkable knots per square inch (KPSI) of 104, this rug showcases the unmatched craftsmanship of its weavers. In fact, we have calculated that there are an impressive 780,388 individually hand-tied knots throughout the entire piece, a testament to the meticulous attention to detail and dedication that goes into its creation.

Experience the allure and authenticity of this Afghan treasure, a true masterpiece that embodies the rich cultural heritage of its origin. Transform your space with this extraordinary rug, adding a touch of artistry and elegance to your surroundings.
