Introducing an exquisite Afghan rug, this stunning piece showcases the heritage and craftsmanship of ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe. Originating from the rugged terrain of the Ghazni Province in Southeast Afghanistan, the wool used in this rug is sourced from sheep known for their longer staple and higher quality wool.
The rug features a tribal design known as Heriz Wageriegh, characterized by its bold and striking motifs. Its vibrant background is adorned with a warm rust hue, while the border exudes a captivating teal color. The dominant shade here is a rich, deep red, adding a captivating charm to any space.
Crafted using a traditional floor loom, this rug boasts the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, meticulously tied by hand. The wool pile is supported by a sturdy cotton warp and weft, ensuring durability and longevity. The double wefting technique and heavily packed depressed warp weaving contribute to its exceptional durability.
One of the distinguishing factors of this rug is the use of all-natural dye stuffs. The red color is derived from madder root dyes, obtained from the roots of the madder plant (Rubia tinctorum). This natural dye has been cultivated for centuries and is known for producing a range of warm and cool shades of red, orange, pink, and brown. This rug captures the beauty and history of utilizing natural dyes in carpet weaving.
With a remarkable knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, this rug displays the weavers' meticulous attention to detail. Utilizing this KPSI, we have calculated that this rug showcases an astounding 1,194,973 individually hand-tied knots in total, further exemplifying the time-honored craftsmanship poured into its creation.
Measuring at 9'0" x 11'8", this alluring Afghan rug will effortlessly enhance any interior space, infusing it with timeless beauty and a touch of tribal charm. Revitalize your decor with the enchanting allure of this handwoven masterpiece.
