Introducing the "Soft Melody" collection, a circular rug originating from India. This rug features the ikat design, making it a transitional style piece. The background color is a calming grey, while the border showcases a rust hue. Made with a combination of wool on cotton, this rug is of new condition and measures 7'10" x 7'10" in size.

The Soft Melody collection embodies tradition, craftsmanship, and innovation, originating from the region surrounding Agra in India. Skilled artisans handweave these rugs in their homes, utilizing techniques honed over centuries. The quality of the rug lies in its luxurious material. It is crafted using a blend of imported, long-staple New Zealand wool (comprising 50-75% of the blend) and superior local or South African wool. This combination creates a lustrous finish, distinct from rugs made solely from local wools.

Notably, the yarn used in these rugs features a unique single-ply characteristic. Unlike more common two-ply yarns, each knot incorporates a single thread, resulting in a thicker, denser, and heavier yarn. This, along with the use of an asymmetrical Persian-type knot, creates a distinctive texture with pronounced knots. These characteristics contribute to both the visual and tactile appeal of the Soft Melody rug.

The Soft Melody rugs are renowned for their 6x6 quality, showcasing intricate craftsmanship. The construction includes a 100% wool pile and cotton foundations, with tightly spun cotton warps. The rugs are mostly double-wefted, featuring a pile height of approximately 3/8 inch. Due to the handspun nature of the yarn, subtle color variations can be observed, enhancing the rug's unique aesthetic resulting from artisanal dyeing techniques.

To ensure longevity, these rugs are colored using chromium (or chrome) dyes. This dyeing method provides resistance to fading and maintains vibrant hues over time. The high-quality chromium dyes, primarily imported from Switzerland, are applied in India, combining both international and local resources.
