This Indian Illusion rug displays a contemporary design in a relaxing beige shade. Measuring 6'1" X 9'1", this new type of rug is handcrafted with wool on a cotton base. The entire surface exudes a warm and earthy vibe via its textured weave pattern. The repeated rows exhibit a linear motif while varying subtly in texture and shade. Such variations form horizontal bands that enrich the visual appeal of the rug without introducing intricate designs or vivid colors.

Created by Teddy Sumner of Michaelian & Kohlberg, the rug presents its tonal pattern like small blades of grass sometimes using one or two tones, but dyed with natural dye stuffs allowing for multiple shadings within the same color. This shading technique is known as abrash. The entire product was meticulously produced in Agra, India, taking into account crucial factors such as the distinction between single and two-ply yarns, various dyeing processes, and unique weaving techniques.

One significant detail is the use of the asymmetrical Persian knot in this rug's creation. The Illusion rugs, captivated by the image of fields filled with rustling tall grasses, flaunt their unassuming designs that give off an impression of fading horizons and wave-like rows of grain. Being handcrafted, each piece bears a soft all-wool pile along with a gentle color palette.

The rug is part of Agra's recognized tradition of Indian carpet weaving, adding a sense of historical depth and stability to any space in which it is placed. This rug is noted for being robust, highlighting its potential for handling high-foot traffic efficiently while maintaining its brilliant appearance. The absence of visible edges in the provided image offers no details regarding the presence of a bound edge or a fringe. Hence, its adaptable design and neutral tone render this Indian Illusion rug an ideal choice for diverse environments, such as homes or offices.
