This Persian Kashan rug, dating to circa 1930, showcases a traditional design characteristic of the Kashan region. Originating from one of Persia's most venerable weaving centers, this rug features a refined blend of materials, constructed with wool on a cotton foundation.
The background of the rug is ivory, presenting a neutral and elegant canvas that highlights the skillful craftsmanship inherent in Kashan designs. The central medallion, a prominent feature of this piece, stands out with a dark reddish-brown base intricately adorned with floral motifs in shades of blue and white. This detailed medallion is symmetrical, serving as the focal point and exemplifying the sophistication typical of Kashan rugs.
The field of the rug is richly decorated with a dense array of floral and vine patterns, utilizing a cohesive palette of cream, dark blue, and red. These elements create a rhythmic, repeating pattern of ornate flowers and leaves, all meticulously interconnected to form a visually cohesive design. The elaborate floral imagery extends to the corner brackets, which reflect portions of the central medallion’s intricate pattern, enhancing the overall symmetry and balance of the rug.
The border structure further complements the complexity of the design. The primary border is rendered in a rose hue, detailed with intricate floral motifs that echo the central design elements. This main border provides a striking contrast, drawing the eye and framing the central field. Flanking this are narrower secondary borders, which add layers to the overall pattern. The inner secondary border features a prominent red band, distinguished by its own intricate floral designs, continuing the theme of detailed craftsmanship throughout the rug’s expanse.
Constructed with wool on a cotton foundation, this rug not only exudes aesthetic appeal but also ensures durability and resilience. The use of high-quality materials is evident in the rug’s texture and construction, indicative of the traditional weaving techniques practiced in Kashan for centuries. This rug’s intricate patterns and muted color scheme make it a versatile piece, suitable for various decorative settings.
This antique Persian Kashan rug, with its ivory background and rose border, offers a glimpse into the rich weaving traditions and artistic heritage of Kashan, preserved through generations of skilled craftsmanship.

Don’t take our word for it

Last fall, my husband and I purchased a gorgeous silk from you for our Boston Condo. Based on the quality of your rugs and customer service, we decided to visit you again to purchase rugs for our Connecticut home. Luckily, we received your postcard about the tent sale and came home with two more stunning rugs.

I can't say enough good things about this store, especially Susanne and Breanna. I shop at many rug places as I am an interior designer looking for very specific rugs all the time. No one out there compares to this store and their wonderful Sales associates. Thank you Susanne and Breanna for all your help!

Over the past year we purchased three rugs, as well as carpet from L&A. Our experience could not have been more positive and we love what we purchased.
In addition, every single person
in the showroom was beyond helpful, knowledgeable and kind. It was truly a pleasure. Thank you!

Never have I enjoyed spending money as much as at Landry & Arcari!!! Thank you so much for your attention and guidance. The rug I chose grounds the furniture and makes the living room. It is so beautiful and I really appreciate all of your help.
