Originating from India, this rug showcases a transitional style with a design known as Khotan vase. The background of the rug features a vibrant raspberry hue, complemented by a shrimp-colored border. Crafted from wool on cotton, this rug boasts a main color scheme of red, creating a visually striking piece for any space.

This newly woven rug has undergone meticulous final washing and finishing processes in Jaipur. Utilizing chromium dyes offers color accuracy and light-fastness, ensuring consistency, especially with the antique finishing applied to these rugs. Typically, smaller contractors distribute designs, pre-dyed wool, and hand-spun wools to villages surrounding Jaipur, extending as far as Bikaner in the west. Weavers, who are compensated based on square meter weaving, predominantly work from their homes. Larger rugs, exceeding 10 feet in width, are often outsourced to villages equipped with stationary horizontal looms.

Incorporating an asymmetrical Persian knotting technique, characteristic of rugs woven in Rajasthan, this rug exemplifies a unique construction and finishing method. The wool blend comprises Ghazni wool imported from Afghanistan and South African wool. The double wefted foundation employs a dense cotton structure, featuring an upper weft for added texture and a worn-in aesthetic, similar to antique rugs.

The design of this rug draws inspiration from antique Persian and Khotanese carpets, blending traditional and contemporary color palettes. With 104 knots per square inch, this rug boasts a total of 1,493,891 intricately hand-tied knots, showcasing the craftsmanship and attention to detail invested in its creation.

Visually, the rug captivates with its intricate patterns and vibrant color scheme. The predominant warm red background sets the stage for linear and floral motifs, including vase-like shapes, floral tendrils, and symmetrical floral elements. Soft, muted tones of beige, light blue, yellow, and pink accentuate the design, creating a harmonious contrast against the red backdrop. The absence of a distinct border provides a seamless, continuous appearance, while the high degree of symmetry and moderate pattern density enhance the balanced and visually engaging appeal of this exquisite rug.
