The featured rug is a Caucasian kilim, dating back to approximately 1920. It exhibits a tribal style with a brown background and a rust-colored border. The primary color throughout the rug is brown, and it is crafted using wool on wool, true to the traditional materials and techniques of the region.

Kilim rugs like this one are recognized for their flat-woven structure, achieved through a weft-faced tapestry technique. This method employs horizontal wefts that cover the vertical warps, resulting in a flat texture with no pile. Its intricate design patterns are created using techniques such as "slit tapestry" and "dovetail tapestry," which allow for sharp, geometric designs characteristic of kilims.

This particular rug features a symmetric design centered around medallions and geometric shapes. Central to the rug's pattern are large, interconnected hexagonal shapes that alternate between red and blue. Each hexagon is filled with complex geometric shapes like diamonds, triangles, and abstract motifs, outlined in contrasting colors of white and red. The border of the rug contains repeated geometric patterns with prominent red and yellow elements, giving the rug a cohesive and striking appearance.

The brown and rust color palette is complemented by the incorporation of secondary colors such as gold, green, and blue, with each contributing to the detailed and vibrant design elements. This integration of various colors and geometric patterns underscores the traditional tribal aesthetics of Caucasian kilims.

This rug exemplifies the traditional craftsmanship and design elements typical of kilim rugs from the Caucasian region, reflecting a rich history and cultural heritage.

Last fall, my husband and I purchased a gorgeous silk from you for our Boston Condo. Based on the quality of your rugs and customer service, we decided to visit you again to purchase rugs for our Connecticut home. Luckily, we received your postcard about the tent sale and came home with two more stunning rugs.

I can't say enough good things about this store, especially Susanne and Breanna. I shop at many rug places as I am an interior designer looking for very specific rugs all the time. No one out there compares to this store and their wonderful Sales associates. Thank you Susanne and Breanna for all your help!

Over the past year we purchased three rugs, as well as carpet from L&A. Our experience could not have been more positive and we love what we purchased.

In addition, every single person
in the showroom was beyond helpful, knowledgeable and kind. It was truly a pleasure. Thank you!
