Introducing our exquisite rug from Afghanistan, featuring the stunning Kuba Afshan design. This tribal-style rug boasts a medium blue background and a navy border, creating a visually captivating piece. The main color of this rug is a beautiful shade of blue, adding depth and character to any space.

Crafted with care, this rug is made from high-quality materials. The content consists of wool on cotton, ensuring durability and a luxurious feel underfoot. The size of this rug is 8'1" x 9'7", providing ample coverage for your desired area.

The origin of this rug lies in Afghanistan, specifically known for its skilled weavers from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this rug is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province, known for its mountainous terrain that naturally produces longer staple oily wool ideal for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then brought to the western side of Afghanistan, where it is hand carted and spun into carpet yarn in the city of Herat.

Using traditional floor looms, the weavers in Afghanistan intricately create this rug. The asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and the use of cotton for the warp and weft contribute to its durability. This rug is double wefted and features a heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique, ensuring its longevity.

It's essential to highlight the centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs used in this rug. The color blue is achieved through natural indigo dye made from the leaves of the indigo plant. With a history dating back thousands of years, indigo has been revered for its ability to create vibrant blue hues.

When it comes to craftsmanship, this rug boasts a remarkable knots per square inch (KPSI) of 104. Based on our calculations, we estimate that this rug has approximately 1,151,477 individually hand-tied knots in total. This level of intricacy and attention to detail is a testament to the expertise of the weavers.

Immerse your space in the beauty of Afghan artistry with this exceptional rug. Whether as a focal point or a complementing element, this Kuba Afshan rug is sure to elevate any interior aesthetic.
