Introducing a stunning Afghani rug of exceptional quality and craftsmanship. This rug features a distinct Mamluk design, showcasing intricate tribal patterns that captivate the eye. The background color of this rug is a vibrant fuschia, beautifully complemented by a teal border. The main color, a soft pink, adds a touch of elegance to the overall aesthetic.
This rug is made of high-quality materials, with a wool pile on a cotton warp and weft. The wool used for this rug comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan, renowned for producing longer staple, oily wool ideal for carpet weaving. The raw wool is then hand carted and spun into carpet yarn in the western side of Afghanistan.
The weaving process takes place on traditional floor looms, predominantly in the homes of skilled weavers. The asymmetrical "Persian" knot type is employed, ensuring durability and longevity. The unique double-wefted, heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique used in this rug contributes to its exceptional durability.
Centuries-old natural dye stuffs are meticulously used to create the vibrant and enduring colors in this rug. The result is a work of art that reflects the rich cultural heritage of the region.
This rug has a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 162, indicating the level of intricacy and attention to detail in its creation. Based on this KPSI, we have calculated that there are a remarkable 1,896,785 individually hand-tied knots in this rug.
Experience the beauty and craftsmanship of this exquisite Afghani rug, showcasing the finest traditions of tribal design. Add a touch of sophistication and elegance to your living space with this exceptional piece.
