Introducing our exquisite Afghan rug, featuring a stunning Mamluk design and a tribal style. This rug is crafted with utmost care by talented Turkmen weavers, mainly from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this rug comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan, where the mountainous terrain naturally produces longer staple oily higher quality wool. This raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, around Herat, where it is hand carted and hand spun into carpet yarn.

Woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' homes, this rug showcases an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type. It boasts a navy background and an ivory border, beautifully highlighting the main color of blue. The vibrant blue hue in this rug is achieved through the use of natural indigo dye stuffs, derived from the leaves of the indigo plant. Natural indigo dyes, also known as indigofera tinctoria or true indigo, have been used for centuries to produce stunning blue colors in various cultures around the world.

Crafted with a wool pile on a cotton warp and weft, this rug is double wefted and heavily packed, ensuring its durability and longevity. The dense warp weaving with depressed warp technique creates a sturdy and resilient handwoven carpet. To add to its charm, this rug is dyed using centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs, contributing to its authentic beauty.

With a size of 7'10" x 10'0" and a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, this rug is a true masterpiece. Based on our calculations, this rug has a total of 891,481 individually hand-tied knots, showcasing the skill and craftsmanship that went into its creation.

Experience the artistry of Afghan rug weaving with this exceptional piece that combines intricate design, historical techniques, and vibrant natural colors. Add a touch of elegance and tradition to your space with this unique Afghan Mamluk tribal rug.
