Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug, boasting a captivating Mamluk design combined with a tribal style. The background is adorned with a delicate light blue hue, beautifully contrasting with the vibrant fuscia border. Crafted using high-quality wool on cotton, this rug showcases the traditional craftsmanship of ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe.

The wool used in this rug originates from the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan, where the mountainous terrain nurtures sheep with longer staple and higher-quality wool. After being sourced, the raw Ghazni wool is transported to Herat, on the western side of Afghanistan, where it undergoes the meticulous process of hand carding and spinning into carpet yarn.

This remarkable piece is handwoven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, reflecting the cottage industry type of production. The asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and cotton warp and weft result in a durable and long-lasting carpet. With centuries-old natural dye stuffs, the colors of this rug are derived from all-natural indigo dyes, which have been used by humans for thousands of years to produce vibrant blue hues.

Featuring a knot count of 162 per square inch, our calculations estimate that this rug boasts an impressive total of 255,484 individually hand-tied knots. The attention to detail and expertise of the skilled weavers from the Karam Kul district of Andkhoi is evident in the hand-spun single ply pern knot yarn used in this masterpiece.

Size: 2 '9 " X 4 '0 "

With its rich heritage and meticulous craftsmanship, this Afghani rug is a testament to the artistry and skill of its weavers. Its stunning design and carefully chosen materials make it a coveted addition to any space.
