Originating in Agra, India, these rugs are woven by skilled artisans in their homes. The material used in the Soft Melody rugs is a luxurious blend of imported New Zealand wool and either superior local wool or South African wool. This blend gives the rug a shiny and lustrous finish. The imported New Zealand wool is hand-carded and hand-spun into yarn, supporting the local economy.

One distinctive feature of the Soft Melody rug is its single-ply yarn. Unlike most rugs that use two-ply yarns, each knot of this rug incorporates a single thread, resulting in a thicker and denser yarn. This unique characteristic, along with the use of an asymmetrical Persian-type knot, creates a nubby texture with visibly pronounced knots, adding to the rug's tactile and visual appeal.

The Soft Melody rugs are known for their 6x6 density, showcasing the intricate craftsmanship involved. The rugs have a 100% wool pile and a cotton foundation, with tightly spun cotton warps. They are mostly double-wefted, providing durability. The pile height is approximately 3/8 inch, offering a plush feel.

Color is an important aspect of these rugs. They are dyed with chromium (or chrome) dyes, which resist fading and maintain vibrant hues over time. The use of high-quality chromium dyes, primarily imported from Switzerland, ensures the rug's longevity and colorfastness.

Soft Melody Oushak rugs resemble traditional 19th-century Turkish Oushaks, known for their thick knots. These rugs stand out due to their unique nubby texture at the base of each knot. While antique Oushaks often have a worn appearance, Soft Melody Oushaks embrace this aesthetic, adding depth and character to the design. 3 Day Money Back Guarantee and Return Policy for Handwoven Rugs

At Landry & Arcari, we hope to help you find the perfect rug for your home, which is why we give you a chance to view any handmade rug in your home for three days. If you decide the rug is not for you, you may return it within three days for a refund, less return shipping charges. The following conditions apply: 

• The three-day return period begins upon delivery of the rug to the shipping address you provided.   

• Returns after three days are considered exchanges and are valid for a merchandise credit only.  

• Exchanges are up to 30 Days. After 30 days, your sale is final.  

• All Customers are responsible for return shipping and insurance charges. Customers outside the Continental US will also be responsible for any local duty and vat charges.   

• The item must be unused and in the same condition as received to be eligible for a refund or exchange. 

• Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you of your return approval or rejection. If approved, we will include a copy of your refund.   

• To return your rug, you will need to properly wrap and secure it in the original wrapping. If you require new wrapping, don't hesitate to contact us. 

• THIS POLICY DOES NOT APPLY to custom ordered rugs, carpet and carpet area rugs, custom rug fabrication and alterations of any kind, rug & carpeting pads, wholesale, or trade accounts.

Each carpet area rug is made-to-order, which is why all carpet sales are final. However, once you place your order, we will contact you via email or phone to confirm the exact dimensions, carpet product, and color before processing your final order. This policy applies to carpet rolls as well.
