Introducing our exquisite Afghani rug with an Oushak design, featuring a tribal style. The background color is a captivating taupe, while the border showcases a striking rust hue. The main color of this rug is a stunning beige, creating a harmonious and warm aesthetic. This rug, crafted from wool on cotton, brings together traditional techniques and high-quality materials.

Originating from South East Afghanistan, this rug is woven by ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this piece is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province, known for its mountainous terrain that produces longer staple, oily wool ideal for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to Herat, on the western side of Afghanistan, where it undergoes the labor-intensive process of hand carding and spinning into carpet yarn.

These rugs are woven on traditional floor looms, often in the weavers' own homes, contributing to a vibrant cottage industry. The intricate craftsmanship is achieved through an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, ensuring durability and longevity. With a cotton warp and weft, and an all-wool pile, this rug boasts double wefting and heavily packed depressed warp weaving, making it one of the sturdiest handwoven carpets available today.

Transporting us back in time, this rug features centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs, revealing the weavers' commitment to preserving traditional techniques. The rich cultural heritage is embodied in the design and colors of this magnificent piece.

Measuring at 7'10" x 9'9", our rug showcases 80 knots per square inch, translating to a remarkable total of 869,194 individually hand-tied knots. From the intricate design to the impeccable craftsmanship, this rug is a true testament to the skill and artistry of Afghan weavers.

Immerse yourself in the beauty of this Afghani rug, an exquisite addition to any interior space. Experience the allure of tribal design combined with the elegance of an Oushak pattern, as this rug becomes the focal point of your home.
