Introducing our exceptional rug from Afghanistan, featuring a captivating Seljuk design. This tribal-style rug boasts a navy background and a striking gold border, exuding a sense of timeless elegance. Crafted with care, this rug is made with wool on cotton, offering a comfortable and durable texture.

Originating in Afghanistan, this rug reflects the expertise of ethnic Turkmen weavers, primarily from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this masterpiece is sourced from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan, renowned for producing high-quality wool suitable for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it undergoes the meticulous process of hand carting and hand spinning into carpet yarn.

Woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' homes, this rug showcases the skill and dedication of the artisans behind its creation. The asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and the use of cotton warp and weft, along with an all-wool pile, contribute to its durability. With a double wefted heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique, this rug stands as one of the most long-lasting and resilient handwoven carpets.

Centuries-old natural dye stuffs are employed to achieve the captivating colors found in this rug. The enchanting blue shade is a result of natural indigo dye stuffs derived from the leaves of the indigo plant (indigofera tinctoria). With a history dating back thousands of years, indigo dye has been widely used across various cultures, producing vibrant blue hues that stand the test of time.

With a knots per square inch of 104, this rug showcases the meticulous craftsmanship invested into its creation. We have calculated that this exceptional piece features a total of 1,205,882 individually hand-tied knots.

Embrace the splendor of this Afghan rug, a true masterpiece that harmonizes traditional techniques, exquisite design, and superior quality materials.

Last fall, my husband and I purchased a gorgeous silk from you for our Boston Condo. Based on the quality of your rugs and customer service, we decided to visit you again to purchase rugs for our Connecticut home. Luckily, we received your postcard about the tent sale and came home with two more stunning rugs.

I can't say enough good things about this store, especially Susanne and Breanna. I shop at many rug places as I am an interior designer looking for very specific rugs all the time. No one out there compares to this store and their wonderful Sales associates. Thank you Susanne and Breanna for all your help!

Over the past year we purchased three rugs, as well as carpet from L&A. Our experience could not have been more positive and we love what we purchased.

In addition, every single person
in the showroom was beyond helpful, knowledgeable and kind. It was truly a pleasure. Thank you!
