The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it is hand-carded and spun into carpet yarn, ready for production.

Using traditional floor looms within their own homes, these talented artisans create this rug using an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type. The foundation consists of a cotton warp and weft, with a wool pile. The double-wefted technique and heavily packed depressed warp weaving result in a remarkably durable handmade carpet that will withstand the test of time.
