Originating from India, this Serapi design rug showcases a transitional style with a raspberry background and a camel border. The main color scheme predominantly features red hues, adding warmth and vibrancy to the rug. Crafted from wool on cotton, this rug boasts meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail.

The production process of this rug involves intricate steps, including a final washing and multiple finishing processes carried out in Jaipur. Chromium dyes are favored for color accuracy and lightfastness, particularly beneficial for custom orders and the antique finishing process these rugs undergo. Typically woven by smaller contractors who distribute designs and materials to villages around Jaipur and even farther locations like Bikaner, these rugs are woven on looms in homes or specialized village settings. Utilizing an asymmetrical Persian knotting technique, which has been a tradition in the state of Rajasthan for centuries, this rug has a unique texture that mimics vintage worn aesthetics.

Comprising a blend of Ghazni and South African wool, the woolen fibers are hand-spun and dyed before being meticulously woven into the double-wefted cotton foundation. The construction of this rug includes a bottom weft with dense cotton plys, complemented by a finer upper weft, giving the rug a distinctive ribbed texture and enhancing its visual appeal. The design inspiration for these rugs stems from antique Persian and Khotanese carpets, blending traditional motifs with a modern color palette.

Visually, this rug impresses with its rich color palette and intricate patterns. The predominant red background complements the intricate detailing in shades of beige, blue, and cream. The complex design features traditional elements like botanical motifs, geometric shapes, and symmetrical patterns, creating a visually striking effect. The multi-layered border design adds depth, with each band showcasing unique patterns and colors, framing the central field beautifully. The symmetrical layout, especially evident in the central medallion, enhances the rug's traditional aesthetic and overall elegance.

Last fall, my husband and I purchased a gorgeous silk from you for our Boston Condo. Based on the quality of your rugs and customer service, we decided to visit you again to purchase rugs for our Connecticut home. Luckily, we received your postcard about the tent sale and came home with two more stunning rugs.

I can't say enough good things about this store, especially Susanne and Breanna. I shop at many rug places as I am an interior designer looking for very specific rugs all the time. No one out there compares to this store and their wonderful Sales associates. Thank you Susanne and Breanna for all your help!

Over the past year we purchased three rugs, as well as carpet from L&A. Our experience could not have been more positive and we love what we purchased.

In addition, every single person
in the showroom was beyond helpful, knowledgeable and kind. It was truly a pleasure. Thank you!
