This antique Persian Serapi rug, dating back to circa 1900, showcases a classic tribal style with intricate design elements. Originating from the northwest mountainous regions of Persia, Serapi rugs are well-regarded for their distinct aesthetic and craftsmanship.

The primary background color of this rug is a rich rust, which is complemented by a navy border. The main field predominantly features a deep red hue. The rug's wool pile is woven onto a cotton foundation, typical of traditional Persian rug-making techniques, ensuring both durability and a soft texture.

The design prominently features a central medallion, a hallmark of Serapi rugs. This medallion is a complex, star-like shape with multiple layers, intricately detailed with floral motifs. It exhibits a symmetrical layout, comprising an inner core of lighter tones framed by darker colors, creating a vivid contrast that anchors the rug's overall visual impact.

In terms of color palette, the rug is characterized by its dominant red field, accented by dark navy or black outlines that highlight the central medallion and additional motifs. Cream, light blue, and green shades are used sparingly to bring out the floral and geometric designs that populate the rug's surface.

The borders of this rug consist of multiple layers with varying widths. The outermost border is the narrowest, featuring a repeating pattern of small geometric shapes and floral elements. The central border is the widest and displays larger, more elaborate floral designs that incorporate the same rich color palette as the main field. An innermost border, echoing the outer patterns but narrower, frames the central field adjacent to the medallion.

This Serapi rug not only reflects the time-honored Persian weaving techniques but also showcases the cultural heritage of the region. Its large, spaced-apart motifs and robust color contrast are indicative of the traditional tribal influences that make Serapi rugs highly regarded artifacts from this period.

Last fall, my husband and I purchased a gorgeous silk from you for our Boston Condo. Based on the quality of your rugs and customer service, we decided to visit you again to purchase rugs for our Connecticut home. Luckily, we received your postcard about the tent sale and came home with two more stunning rugs.

I can't say enough good things about this store, especially Susanne and Breanna. I shop at many rug places as I am an interior designer looking for very specific rugs all the time. No one out there compares to this store and their wonderful Sales associates. Thank you Susanne and Breanna for all your help!

Over the past year we purchased three rugs, as well as carpet from L&A. Our experience could not have been more positive and we love what we purchased.

In addition, every single person
in the showroom was beyond helpful, knowledgeable and kind. It was truly a pleasure. Thank you!

Never have I enjoyed spending money as much as at Landry & Arcari!!! Thank you so much for your attention and guidance. The rug I chose grounds the furniture and makes the living room. It is so beautiful and I really appreciate all of your help.
