Introducing an exquisite Afghani rug with a Shahsevan Khorjin design, this tribal-inspired masterpiece showcases a rust background with a teal border. Crafted using traditional techniques, this rug embodies the rich cultural heritage of Afghanistan.

Originating from the Ghazni Province in South East Afghanistan, the wool used in this rug comes from sheep that graze on mountainous terrain, resulting in longer staple oily higher quality wool. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, where it is hand carted and spun into carpet yarn. Weavers from the Esari Subtribe, known for their exceptional skills, weave this rug on traditional floor looms in their own homes, contributing to a cottage industry type production.

Featuring an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and a cotton warp and weft, this rug ensures durability and longevity. The double wefted heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique further enhances the strength of this handwoven carpet. Adding to its allure are the centuries-old all-natural dye stuffs used to create its vibrant colors.

The mesmerizing red hue in this rug is derived from natural madder root dyes. Through a meticulous process, madder roots are transformed into dye, resulting in warm and cool shades of red, orange, pink, and brown. Madder root dyes have been a staple in dyeing traditions around the world for centuries.

With 80 knots per square inch, this rug boasts meticulous craftsmanship. In fact, we have calculated that this rug has a total of 392,791 individually hand-tied knots, highlighting the remarkable dedication and skill of the weaver.

Immerse yourself in the beauty of this Afghani rug with its Shahsevan Khorjin design. Its intricate details, cultural significance, and exceptional craftsmanship make it a prized addition to any space.
