Introducing our exquisite Afghani Tabriz rug, with its traditional design and stunning color combination. This rug boasts a light blue background that beautifully contrasts with a rust border, creating a captivating visual appeal.

Originating from Afghanistan, this rug is a testament to the skill and expertise of ethnic Turkmen weavers, primarily from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in this rug comes from sheep in the Ghazni Province of Southeast Afghanistan, where the mountainous terrain naturally produces longer staple oily wool, known for its higher quality in carpet weaving. This raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, around Herat, where it undergoes the meticulous processes of hand carting and hand spinning into carpet yarn.

Woven on traditional floor looms by skilled artisans in their own homes, this rug embodies the essence of a cottage industry. The weaving technique utilized is the asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, resulting in a resilient and enduring carpet. The pile of the rug is made entirely of wool, while the warp and weft consist of cotton, ensuring a sturdy foundation. The double wefting and heavily packed depressed warp weaving techniques contribute to its durability, making it one of the most long-lasting handwoven carpets available.

This exquisite rug features centuries-old, all-natural dye stuffs, with the captivating blue hues derived from natural indigo dyes. Indigo, also known as Indigofera tinctoria or true indigo, has been used by humans for thousands of years to create vibrant blue shades. Our Afghani Tabriz rug is a testament to the rich history and enduring beauty of this ancient dyeing technique.

With a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 162, our meticulous calculations point to a staggering total of 1,932,094 individually hand-tied knots in this magnificent rug. Each knot represents the dedication and craftsmanship of the weavers, ensuring a truly unique and exceptional piece.

Immerse yourself in the timeless elegance of our Afghani Tabriz rug, crafted with the highest level of artistry and expertise. Its traditional design, ethereal color palette, and durable construction make it a treasured addition to any space. Enrich your home with the beauty and cultural significance embodied by this remarkable rug.
