Introducing the stunning Afghan Timani Tribal Rug, originating from Afghanistan and boasting a captivating design. This rug features a rust background with a denim border, creating a striking contrast that instantly draws the eye. Crafted with the utmost care and attention to detail, this rug is made with a wool pile on a cotton warp and weft, ensuring both comfort and durability.

The rug is woven by skilled ethnic Turkmen weavers, predominantly from the Esari Subtribe. The wool used in the creation of this rug is sourced from the Ghazni Province in Southeast Afghanistan. This region's mountainous terrain provides an ideal environment for sheep and yields high-quality, longer staple, oily wool, perfect for carpet weaving. The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan, near Herat, where it is hand-carded and hand-spun into carpet yarn before being meticulously crafted on traditional floor looms in people's homes, creating a cottage industry type production.

Utilizing an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type and employing double-wefted heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique, this rug is not only visually stunning but also incredibly durable. Its centuries-old tradition of using all-natural dye stuffs adds to its authenticity and appeal.

The vibrant red color of this rug is derived from natural madder root dyes. Madder root, scientifically known as Rubia tinctorum, has a rich history as a dyeing agent and has been cultivated for centuries in various parts of the world. With its ability to produce warm and cool shades of red, orange, pink, and brown, madder root dyes have been cherished and utilized by countless cultures throughout history.

Measuring at 4'1" x 6'0", this Afghan Timani Tribal Rug features a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80, demonstrating the meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail involved in its creation. Based on the KPSI, we have calculated that this rug contains a remarkable 278,824 individually hand-tied knots, showcasing the unparalleled skill and dedication of the weavers.

Embrace the rich heritage and exquisite beauty of Afghan craftsmanship with this remarkable Timani Tribal Rug. Perfect for adding warmth and character to any space, this rug truly embodies the timeless allure of handmade rugs, embodying both style and functionality.
